RichÕs approach to tattooing has been called both unique and unorthodox. Some have left his seminars with more questions than when they entered and many have said the seminars are too short. So here it is, three full hours with Rich Ives. If youÕre planning on attending this and have specific questions you would like Rich to address you can email him at: studio@steelcitytattoo.com and he will work them into his PowerPoint presentations & or demonstrations.
Rich is not asking compensation from the NTA for this seminar – but asks, if you are attending a donation to either the Uncle Bud Scholarship Fund or the Col. Todd Hardship Fund would be appreciated.

How to give your clients a Second Chance: Bad Decisions and Bad Tattoos Forgiven, with more advanced Cover-Up and Fix-Up Techniques. Also covers: Birthmarks and Scars.

Anderson
Shahn will show you how to use rice paper stencils as taught to him by the late great Sailor Moses. This
technique allows you to apply full back pieces, sleeves, and rib cage work in one shot. It enables you to draw
the piece all at once and you can better plan those large tattoos.

The Fine Tuning of Your Business Machine
Mrs. Anna & Bill Funk
Bill and Anna Funk will describe how they
fine tune all business aspects of your tattoo industry corporate machine.
Specifically they will address issues surrounding scheduling personnel and
maximizing profits while pushing artistic limits of your staff. Improving
customer service while balancing custom and walk-in appointments. Finishing
with an open question & answer period at the end.

5-6pm Booth Holders Meeting – Each Booth must be represented at this meeting or Friday at 10:30am. If you do not attend one of these meetings you wonÕt be able to tattoo on Sat. & Sun. All Tattooists working
this convention must have their equipment inspected and OKÕd by our Booth inspectors.
6-6:30pm Members Only Meeting - Only registered NTA Members may attend
6:30-7:30pm Volunteers Meeting - This meeting is to go over the jobs and times with those of you who have been good enough to offer your services for this convention.

8pm-2am Only those registered may attend this function. Hors DÕoeuvres served. The 50/50 Uncle Bud Scholarship Fund drawing held this evening. We will auction off the 3 Finished Art pieces from last nights Art Demonstrations this evening. ThereÕll be a Photo Session tonight from 9-11pm so it will be a good time for you to take some photos. Please remember to ask permission first.
We will also hold 2 challenges tonight: ÒFusion of ArtÓ in pastels and in charcoal for 5 artists in each category. Each will start a drawing and after 15 minutes will move on to the next drawing and add to that piece. After another 15minutes they will move on to the next one until they have each contributed to all 5 boards. The finished art work will be auctioned off at the Awards Banquet.

In the last quarter century, Polynesians are once again taking pride in their cultural heritage and reviving many traditional practices, including the tattoo. This presentation provides a pictorial overview of the revival, as well as specific circumstances under which the art has evolved in each of the primary island groups.

RichÕs part of the Seminar will examine the use of Photoshop as a means of both designing original pieces and exciting potential clients with the technology. It will be a power point presentation and demonstration leading into the importance of photography and properly photographing your work. This section of the seminar will be presented by Jeff Kearney – photographer for Tattoo Magazine and others. He will cover basic theory and equipment guidelines, as well as the theory of neutral backdrops. It will finish with Q & A for both Rich & Jeff.

SPECIAL APT MASTERY TEST
Monitored by Peggy Sucher
This test begins promptly at 10am so you must be there to register for it at 9:30am. You must be a professional tattooist working in a shop, this does not include apprentices. The test is difficult and the participants should get a good nights sleep and some breakfast in the morning. This should not be taken lightly, study up! APT charges $50 for this test and you can pay them there when you sign up for it.

barley touches on the revival of the art in Polynesia.
